Vizyon TV’s new program Tanerle Parent Academy met with the viewers. The first episode guest of the program, sociologist and family counselor Cevahir Sever shared important information on etiquette and courtesy rules.

In the program, the effects of courtesy from its role in the family to social life were discussed. Sever said, “Etiquette and courtesy rules are unwritten norms that determine the individual’s place in society while at the same time increasing their dignity in communication. We should not forget that everything starts in the family,” Sever said.

Referring to the importance of passing on the rules of etiquette to children in families, Sever shared examples of courtesy from the Ottoman period to the present day and said, “Even the flowers placed on the windows had a meaning; this increased empathy in neighborly relations.”

Sever also emphasized how even a small smile and a ‘hello’ in daily life can have positive effects on human relations. The program also discussed how etiquette rules can differ according to geography and culture.

The first episode of the Parent Academy received full marks from the audience and it was announced that the program will continue in the coming weeks with valuable guests. In the second part of the program, etiquette and courtesy rules will be discussed in depth.
