Speaking at the ceremony held at Balçova Kaya Thermal Hotel, TÜMKİAD Izmir Provincial President Ahmet Kirazdiken said, “Our first goal in Izmir, a city of agriculture, is to establish the University of Agriculture.”
“WE ARE STARTING A MOBILISATION”
Stating that they are proud to be the 42nd branch of TÜMKİAD in the 100th anniversary of the Republic, İzmir Provincial President Ahmet Kirazdiken underlined that they are the most important business world association of Turkey.
Addressing the guests from the rostrum, Kirazdiken said, “Today, I would like to announce that we have started a national economic mobilisation in our country. We are starting a journey that will act together with all business people without any political discrimination.”
Stating that they will take action to effectively promote Izmir not only at home but also abroad, Ahmet Kirazdiken said, “We will support our producers in every field from our exporters to our farmers. While working to integrate production co-operatives and women’s co-operatives into the world, we will prepare projects to increase agricultural and food investments.”
WILL WORK LIKE A VILLAGE INSTITUTE
Underlining that agricultural development is extremely important for our country, Izmir Provincial President Kirazdiken said, “We want to establish the Agriculture University for the correct use of our incredibly fertile lands in Izmir and the Aegean Region and for the cultivation of the right products. This university will be just like the village institutes of the old period; in addition to normal education, all kinds of courses on agriculture will be held. I believe that this university will make significant contributions to the agricultural production of our country and our producers.”
MUST BE OPENED URGENTLY
Nihat Tanrıkulu, the President of TÜMKİAD, stated that the association’s goal is to prevent the young people in Turkey from relying on other countries and explained that this brain drain should be prevented.
Tanrıkulu continued his words as follows: “We have learnt how important food is during the pandemic process. The Aegean Region and Izmir are in an extremely important position in this field. The fact that our Provincial President Ahmet Kirazdiken is active in the agricultural sector with his family accelerated the maturation of the idea of an agricultural university. This country urgently needs an agricultural university. Only in this way will our villages be reborn from their ashes.”
VILLAGE WILL BE ENRICHED FIRST
Noting that such a university should be established in the most fertile lands of Turkey such as Izmir, President Tanrıkulu said: “When we bring the smartest students and the world’s best teachers to these universities and teach animal husbandry and agriculture, and when those young people get the money they deserve from the products they sell, then that village becomes our village. Otherwise, you cannot enrich cities without enriching villages. As long as we have Atatürk, flag and nation in common, no one can leave this country behind. Our goal is to prevent the lives of our young people from disappearing.”
After the speeches, TÜMKİAD General President Nihat Tanrıkulu and İzmir Provincial Administration cut the representative opening ribbon of İzmir Branch. President Ahmet Kirazdiken received the mazbat of provincial presidency from TÜMKİAD General President Nihat Tanrıkulu and TÜMKİAD Istanbul Anatolian Side Provincial President Enes Selimoğlu.
ENTER ROOMS
Explaining that there are very valuable members in TÜMKİAD, Tanrıkulu said, “Our members who have served in the state and know the economy very well should definitely be in the management or councils of chambers of industry, chambers of commerce and chambers of tradesmen. Teams for these chambers should find and produce names and ensure that the right candidates are represented in those chambers. I want to see our members in those seats and authorities. 30 – 40 years old names in the chambers should be replaced by new names; there should be a change.”
REPRESENTATION IN ALL PROVINCES
Noting that they have a wide member profile consisting of different sector representatives, TÜMKİAD İzmir Provincial President Ahmet Kirazdiken said, “As TÜMKİAD, we will keep the pulse of different sectors by creating 81 separate commercial committees within the association for the business world in İzmir. By the end of 2024, we plan to open a representative office in all districts of Izmir. As TÜMKİAD İzmir Provincial Presidency, we aim to complete our structuring with our new branches to be established in other provinces in the Aegean Region.”
